I want to make sure that Floyd County residents have a Treasurer that is knowledgeable
and competent in running the office and making sure that all duties are carried out
efficiently and according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
I have a degree in Accounting from San Diego State University. I have been employed
in the accounting field for over 35 years. I have experience in fund accounting,
government accounting and various sectors of business administration. I have
supervisorial experience and have managed teams of over 10 people.
I am a critical thinker and excellent decision maker. My communication skills with staff
and colleagues is excellent. I am reliable and will work alongside the staff in the
Treasurer’s office daily. I am an “Accountant for the Job”.
The county treasurer is responsible for depository of tax obligations, collection of
property taxes, processing of liquor license renewals, processing of mobile home
relocation permits, title transfers, distribution of county funds, county investments,
yearly tax sale, and bookkeeping within the treasurer’s office.
A county treasurer should have a background and preferably a degree in Accounting or
Business. They need to have attention to detail, accurate record keeping, and financial
literacy.
Currently, the Floyd County Treasurer’s office has a 2.2 star review rating. I would work
diligently to bring this rating up. The Treasurer’s office should provide excellent
customer service to all the residents of Floyd County. I would also work to correct the
audit finding results for last year.
"I worked with Vickie Tencer at UofL when she ran the School of Nursing Research Office. Anyone who can wrangle 30 temperamental professors into complying with the insanely detailed and rigid National Institutes of Health budget rules is a miracle worker. And she was always pleasant, helpful and enthusiastic too!"
-Dr. Valerie Lander McCarthy

“I’ve known Vickie for nearly 20 years and she is hands down the best at seeing how to address financial issues but also how to tackle the difficult decisions needed during budget negotiations. I first met Vickie as my Department’s Finance Manager and then she became a trusted friend, an adopted Sister, a business relationship mentor, and a personal finance consultant. Vickie is fierce when needed and compassionate at all times. Although money is her game, she knows how to bring strength to a team and can ferret out the essentials to be done. I highly endorse Vickie Tencer for Treasurer of Floyd County and she is the only choice for this position. No one can do what Vickie does!”
